An invitation

I recognize that when someone visits my site for the first time, they are going through a difficult time. I've been there. After ten years of marriage (and after adopting three children together), I went through my own divorce. It was scary - mostly because I didn't know what to expect or how to prepare.

I was under the very common misunderstanding that a divorce was all about the legal paperwork. It's so much more than that, though. It's about making tough decisions and sometimes having to compromise - something we didn't do well when we were married so how could we do it as part of our divorce?

I had a lot of questions but didn't want to ask anyone because I felt ashamed that our marriage didn't work. I could barely admit to myself that we were moving forward with a divorce so I certainly didn't want to admit it to anyone else.

If you are anything like I was, and you're feeling overwhelmed by a looming divorce, this is my invitation to you. Join me as I walk through how to prepare for a divorce so you can feel more confident than I did going through the process.

Since going through my own divorce, I have helped hundreds of couples and individuals going through this difficult time. I've learned a lot through working with these folks but if you take nothing else away from this site, it is that preparation is key to a smooth divorce process (AND it will save you a tremendous amount on legal bills).

Here's what you will experience in the
